PhD Fellows

George Balaskas

Beneficiary Placement:

National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos

PhD Topic:

Enabling Technology to conduct evidence-based co-creation

Bio:

George has a BSc in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and an MSc in Intelligent and Adaptive Systems. His interest in coding stems from an early age, when we would automate tasks in the games he used to play. Following his interest, George started a bachelor where he became familiar with machine learning through his work on “Evolving a foraging robot”. During his masters, George started to employ his knowledge of machine learning to social and economic issues with his dissertation “Agent-Based modelling in Macroeconomics”. While he was studying for his masters, George had the opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant, a position that sparked his interest for the world of academia anew, seeing how his work and way of thinking benefit other people’s learning

George is excited to be starting his journey into a PhD as a part of the Health Cascade project. He is particularly interested in further applying his knowledge to a project that aims to help with vital social issues, such as public health, by enabling technologies to support co-creation for health. He is excited for the opportunity to work in a team of exceptional individuals, meet and share ideas with like-minded people, and contribute to and expand knowledge.
