Sara Rachdan recently showcased the YoCo (Youth Co-creation) project at the ISBNPA conference during the symposium “Engaging different generations in research to co-create healthy urban spaces in Europe and Africa.” The project focuses on the built environment’s impact on adolescents’ physical activity and well-being and the co-creation of physically and socially activating youth-friendly public space together with adolescents..
During her presentation, Sara shared insights into co-creating with adolescents and shed light on the multi-disciplinary approach utilised to facilitate the co-creation process and inform the design process. She outlined the three distinct phases of the project and highlighted the key methods used during the needs assessment and ideation and design phase, ultimately leading to the final design outcome co-created together with the Amsterdam Municipality, Speelplan and Students of the Lely Lyceum.
The YoCo project is now transitioning to its final phase, the implementation and evaluation phase, with the co-created design scheduled for implementation in early 2024.
