Ghent University (UGent) is a large university in Belgium with 3 key tasks: research, education and service. The university has an international reputation in outstanding research across a wide range of domains. One of the main tasks of the university is to deliver PhD degrees as the highest possible diploma for outstanding students and to organize PhD trainings.
The research unit “Physical Activity and Health” is one of the leading groups internationally on physical activity and sedentary behaviour related research, including health promotion and behavioural change. The unit Health Promotion focuses on evidence-based health promotion and behavioural change in all age groups (from young children to older adults) and subgroups (e.g. vulnerable groups) with special attention to behavioural nutrition, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, sleep and alcohol use.

Associate Professor
Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (research unit Health Promotion). She has large expertise in developing, implementing and evaluating physical activity and sedentary behaviour interventions, and co-creation.
Benedicte Deforche
Professor
Professor at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (research unit Health Promotion), focusing on individual and environmental determinants of health behaviour and the development of health promotion interventions using the Intervention Mapping Protocol and/or a participatory approach.

JANNEKE DE BOER
PhD Student
Bachelor degree in European Public Health as well as Health Sciences both from Maastricht University. In addition, she obtained a master degree in Social and Organisational Psychology from Utrecht University.
