Co-creation is gaining traction in health promotion and behaviour change research, aiming to involve communities in decision-making. Nevertheless, challenges exist, and we are working to address these challenges by transforming co-creation from a naïve praxis to a robust, evidence-based and trustworthy methodology. We shared exciting advancements at ISBNPA in a symposium, presenting to a packed room of participants. First, our researchers explained methodological foundations including the development of theory and its principles, exploring ethical considerations, appropriate methods, and ways to evaluate co-creation. Secondly, our technology team demonstrated how artificial intelligence and other technologies can enhance and ensure the trustworthiness of co-creation. Lastly, we discussed insights and impact from action research in various settings: education, workplace, health and care practice, schools, and urban environments. The symposium culminated in a lively panel discussion, offering participants the chance to ask questions and share reflections. We’re excited to continue engaging with the health promotion community!
